Juan Carlos Garvayo (Motril, 1969) is one of the most active and versatile Spanish pianists of today. As a soloist and as a member of the prestigious Arbós Trio, performs regularly in major concert halls and festivals around the world: the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Venice Biennale, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Venice Biennial, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Kuhmo Festival, Festival Time of Music Viitasaari, Wittener Tage für neue Musik, Singapore Arts Festival, Spoleto Festival, Shanghai Festival, Rome Nuova Consonanza, Romaeuropa, Camagüey International Festival , NUMUS Festival of Toronto, International Festival of Santorini, Festival Internacional de El Salvador, Ryedale Festival, Quincena Musical Donostiarra, Festival Internacional de Música Contemporánea de Alicante, Festival de Santander, Ensems de Valencia, Teatro Central de Sevilla, etc., and as soloist with orchestras including the National Orchestra of Spain, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester, KlangforumWien, Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, the Lithuanian National Orchestra, Orquesta de Castilla y León, Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, etc.His interest in contemporary music has led him to release more than one hundred works, many of them dedicated to him, and personally work with composers like Hans Werner Henze, Pascal Dusapin, Jonathan Harvey, George Benjamin, Toshio Hosokawa, Cristobal Halffter, Luis de Pablo and Beat Furrer.He has recorded numerous albums with the Trio Arbós (case of Joaquin Turina, Jesús Torres, Luis de Pablo, Roberto Sierra, Cesar Camarero, etc.) and as a soloist with labels such as Naxos, Col Legno, Essays, Verso, Sony Classical, or JVC. Recently recorded for the label Kairos of Vienna as a soloist with the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester Berlin and the National Orchestra of Spain. Juan Carlos is currently a professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid and artistic director of the Festival Música Sur of Motril.
